The Greater Sepik Cocoa of Excellence and Trade Expo 2026, themed “Promoting Excellence in Cocoa,” is building strong momentum ahead of its April showcase. Communities, institutions, and partners across Papua New Guinea have united through four successful fundraising events, each reinforcing the commitment to celebrating cocoa and empowering Sepik’s future.

The journey began in Wewak on 14 December 2025, with the first fundraiser dinner held at the Village Inn Hotel. The event brought together support from government, private sector, and individuals. This first fundraiser set the tone for collaboration, highlighting Sepik’s cocoa heritage and community spirit in support of a greater cause.

Momentum grew with the official launch in Port Moresby, where national leaders, industry partners, and media joined to spotlight cocoa’s role in trade and development. The third fundraiser in Vanimo emphasized regional collaboration and cross-border opportunities, strengthening ties across the northern frontier.

The journey concluded in Lae on 23 January 2026, with strong participation from the private sector and other stakeholders. As Papua New Guinea’s hub for trade and logistics, Lae provided the perfect stage to cap off the fundraising series and reaffirm national commitment to the Expo.

The Secretariat is now finalizing the official financial report, which will be published soon to ensure accountability and donor recognition. Transparency remains a cornerstone of the Expo’s preparations, and supporters can expect a clear breakdown of funds raised and how they will be used to deliver a world-class event.

With April fast approaching, the Cocoa Expo Secretariat extends heartfelt thanks to all supporters and partners. Together, we are promoting excellence in cocoa and positioning Sepik and Papua New Guinea on the global stage.
