Message from the Governor
The Greater Sepik Cocoa of Excellence and Trade Expo represents a major step forward for our people and our province. At a time when rising prices are affecting every family in Papua New Guinea, it is clear that our strength lies in producing more, not importing more. This is why cocoa is so important to us.
Right across the Sepik, people are returning to their villages to grow cocoa, rebuilding livelihoods and restoring local economies. The income earned is transforming families—many are now buying boats and other assets that give them mobility, opportunity, and financial security.
Cocoa is not only resilient to climate change, it is one of the few crops with the power to drive long-term economic transformation for our region. Our focus is simple: to use cocoa to lift our communities, build generational wealth, and secure a stronger future for our people. To show my full commitment to this vision, I pledge K500,000 toward the success of the upcoming Expo. Together, we will continue to grow an industry that empowers the Sepik and strengthens Papua New Guinea.
Who is the Cocoa Board of Papua New Guinea?
Cocoa Board Papua New Guinea oversees the regulation and policy-making of cocoa as an agricultural crop. We offer a range of services to support the growth and development of the cocoa industry in Papua New Guinea. Our products and services include capacity building, research and development, disease control measures, quality control, marketing and promotion, and extension and advisory services.

We are committed to ensuring that the cocoa produced in Papua New Guinea is of the highest quality. Our quality control measures include certification, grading, and testing to ensure that our cocoa meets international standards.
