The East Sepik Provincial Administration has presented a cheque of K32,000.00 to the Greater Sepik Cocoa of Excellence and Trade Expo Committee, reinforcing its commitment to the success of the upcoming event.
The cheque was formally handed over to the GSCETE Committee by Acting Executive Manager for Budget, Anthony Sakarai, of the East Sepik Provincial Administration. The funds represent the total pledges made by divisions and sections under the Administration during the first corporate fundraising dinner held in November 2025.
Receiving the cheque, Fundraising Committee Chairman Mathew Isifu expressed gratitude to the Provincial Administration for its support. He noted that the contribution will assist the committee in planning and hosting the Greater Sepik Cocoa of Excellence and Trade Expo, scheduled for April 21–23, 2026 in Wewak.
“This assistance is timely and crucial. It will help us ensure that the Expo is well-organized and impactful for cocoa farmers, stakeholders, and international buyers,” Mr. Isifu said.
The Expo, branded as the Greater Sepik Cocoa of Excellence and Trade Expo (GSCETE), is expected to bring together cocoa farmers from across Papua New Guinea, alongside overseas buyers and boutique chocolate makers. Organizers emphasize that the event will showcase the importance of cocoa to both the national economy and rural livelihoods, while strengthening global market connections for PNG cocoa.
With this latest financial support, preparations for the Expo continue to gain momentum.
